Women's Tennis gets ITA academic award

Tommie Women's Tennis received a team academic award from 2016-17 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) with a 3.38 grade-point average for the academic year.

It's the eighth consecutive year that Coach Terry Peck's squad has received the honor.

The Tommies finished 15-3 and placed third in the MIAC standings.

St. Thomas also had four individuals who received a Scholar Athlete award with gpas of 3.50 or higher: 

Bakke (10-6 in singles and 12-4 in doubles) and Becher (14-3 in singles and 11-2 in doubles) made All-MIAC. Czarnecki was 10-3 in singles and 7-4 in doubles.

On their careers, Bakke is 38-11 in singles and 37-9 in doubles; Becher finished 54-9 in singles and 40-10 in doubles; and Czarnecki is 19-5 in singles and 18-9 in doubles.

Tommie Men's Tennis also had four individuals who received a Scholar Athlete award with gpas of 3.50 or higher: 

  • Zach Levene (rising sophomore)
  • Aaron Kubiak (rising junior)
  • Luke Utrie (rising junior)
  • Kellen Doberstein (rising sophomore)
