Women's Tennis sees progress at Fall ITA

Tommie Women's Tennis wrapped up its brief fall tennis with some good competition and results last weekend at the Fall ITA tourney hosted by Gustavus.

 

Singles

St. Thomas had three entries in singles: sophomore Sarah Benoy and freshmen Brooke Hapuku and Anna Leary.

Brooke Hapuku defeated ninth-seed Angelica Emmanouil of Carthage in the third round, 6-2, 6-0, before losing to the top seed Gabi Kitchell of UW-Whitewater in the fourth round.

Sarah Benoy won two matches before losing to the No. 10 seed Kimmy Steinert of UW-La Crosse.

Anna Leary lost a close match in the second round then came back to win two matches and the consolation bracket.

 

Doubles

UST's fourth-seeded duo of juniors Paige and Taylor McLeod won two matches but lost 8-5 in the quarterfinals to the No. 9-seeds of UW Eau Claire.

Freshman Taylor Jackson and sophomore Catherine Lindsay lost in the second round and came back to win two matches and the consolation rracket.

Junior Natasha Hood and soph Sarah Benoy defeated a team from St. Olaf and lost to the ninth-seeded team from Carthage.
