Fourth-seed St. Thomas Women's Tennis scored a 5-0 win over fifth-seed St. Mary's Wednesday afternoon in MIAC first-round playoff action. The contest was moved indoors to the Universoty of Minnesota Baseline courts due to cold temperatures and an uncertain forecast.

The Tommies (12-4) advance to Friday's 3:30 p.m. semifinals at Carleton against the nationally-ranked and top-seeded Knights. St. Mary's ended its season at 14-7.

Tommie coach Terry Peck used seven players in the victory. Natasha Hood won 6-0, 6-0 at third singles and also won 8-0 at third doubles with Catherine Lindsay.

Hood and Brooke Hapuku (6-0, 6-1 at sixth singles) secured the fourth and fifth points to secure the victory.
