W.Tennis gets ITA academic honor; 10th year in row


Tommie Women's Tennis received another team academic honor and eight individual awards for 2018-19 from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) with a 3.60 grade-point average for the academic year.

It's the 10th consecutive year that Coach Terry Peck's squad has received the honor.

Despite having no seniors on the roster and despite dropping three 5-4 decisions, the Tommies finished 12-5 and placed fourth in the MIAC standings. They reached the MIAC playoffs for the 13th consecutive season.

St. Thomas also had nine individuals who received an ITA Scholar Athlete award with a gpa of 3.50 or higher for the 2018-19 school year: 

  • Junior Natasha Hood, a double major in Geography and Environmental Studies, went 10-3 in doubles and 9-3 in singles this spring.
  • Repeat honorees included sophomores Chloe Asuncion. a Biology major; Catherine Lindsay, a Biology major; and Katie O'Connor, a Leadership and Management major. On her career, Lindsey is 25-7 in singles and 27-6 in doubles.
  • Rounding out the Tommie honorees were freshmen Jordyn Brown, a Business Communication major; Sophia Dahlke, a Marketing Management major; Anna Leary, a Statistics major; and Sarah Willkom, a Financial Management major.
