Six Tommie Track and Field athletes will head to this week's NCAA Division III Championships in Geneva, Ohio:



Heptathlon, Laura Eischens, seeded 18th (4,409 points);

400 Hurdles, Brielle Bierman, 15th (62.10);



Long Jump, Michael Witschen, 8th (24-5 1-2); Conor White, 16th (23-11 3-4);

Pole Vault, Connor O'Neill, 5th (16-8 1-4);

Shot Put, Micah Hausman, 12th (54-11 1-2);


Tommie junior Austin Jochum (184-5) ranked 21st and missed by one spot in the hammer, two inches short of the final qualifier in the 20-man field.


MIAC Outlook

Tweleve MIAC schools will be represented at this week's national meet. Leading the way are:

  • St. Thomas (six athletes in five events);
  • Concordia (five athletes in six events, one dual competitor);
  • Bethel (five athletes in four events, two dual competitors);
  • St. Ben's (four athletes in three events);
  • Hamline (four athletes in four events);
  • St. Olaf (four athletes in two events);
  • Carleton (three athletes in three events, one dual competitor

The conference has 18 top-eight seeds in the 44 combined men's and women's events, including top-5s on the men's sidde in UST's O'Neill; Joe Coffey of St. Olaf (1,500); Donson Cook-Gallardo (800); Anthony Tyler of Hamline (discus); Carl Klamm of Bethel (400); and the Bethel 4x400 relay.
