St. Thomas tops Simpson in Sat. volleyball

Tommie Volleyball scored a 3-1 win over Simpson on Saturday to finish 2-1 on the weekend at the UW-River Falls Invitational. Saturday's match went to the Tommies 26-24, 21-25, 25-12, 25-12.

The Toms (8-4) were led by Grace Bordson's 17 kills and Julia Spacek's 14 kills and seven blocks. Madie Kroehler added 13 kills and 16 digs; Katharine Mallak had 50 assists and 15 digs; and Ellie Meyer chipped in three aces.

On Friday, lost 3-0 to UW-Stevens Point and won 3-1 over River Falls. 

St. Thomas plays Wednesday at St. Ben's.

Tommie Volleyball split two matches Friday at the UW-River Falls Invitational. The Toms (7-4) lost 3-0 to UW-Stevens Point and won 3-1 over River Falls. The Toms close the tourney Saturday against Simpson (12:30 p.m.).

In the 25-8, 26-28, 25-14, 25-22 win over River Falls (7-3), UST's Julia Spacek had 13 kills and three blocks; Katharine Ma;lak added 31 assists and eight digs; Ellie Meyer had 13 digs ad two aces, and Natalie Tomhave and Audrey Erickson each had eight kills.

In the 25-23, 25-15, 25-17 loss to Stevens Point (8-5), UST's Grace Bordson had 10 kills, Madie Kroehler had eight kills and Mallak added 20 assists.
