Freshman Fran Egan hit .346 with 13 kills and senior Julia Spacek added 10 kills and five blocks to lead the host Tommies to a 3-0 MIAC volleyball win over Augsburg on Wednesday night in Schoenecker Arena.

The Tommies won 25-13, 25-14, 25-20 to end Augsburg's eight-match victory streak.

Coach Thanh Pham's Tommies (13-5 overall, 5-1 MIAC) have won seven of their last eight matches and 12 of their last 13 on their home court dating back to last fall. They are along in third place at the halfway point of the conference race, one-half game behind 5-0 Gustavus and 5-0 St. Ben's.

UST hit .321 and recorded nine service aces in its best outing of its first six conference contests.

Augsburg (16-3, 4-2) played uphill most of the first two sets. The Toms won a closer third set to complete the sweep.

Madie Kroehler contributed nine kills and 16 digs; Katharine Mallak added 35 assists and eight digs; and Ellie Meyer had three aces and 17 digs.

St. Thomas plays two Friday and two Saturday at the UW-Whitewater tournament.
