Baseball completes sweep of Oral Roberts, defeats the Golden Eagles 8-2 on Sunday afternoon

The Tommies remain on top of the Summit League, earning their second conference sweep of the season
TULSA, Okla. – St. Thomas baseball (13-14, 8-3 Summit) completed its sweep of Oral Roberts (12-23-1, 4-10-1 Summit), defeating the Golden Eagles on Sunday afternoon. The Tommies remain in the top spot in the Summit League with a 8-2 win over Oral Roberts, their first program sweep of the defending Summit League champions.
Another strong start for the Tommies led to a three-run inning first inning on Sunday afternoon. After leadoff hitter Tanner Recchio, and Ben Vujovich reached base to open the game, Max Moris recorded his first home run of the season in the top of the first.
St. Thomas recorded runs in the each of the first three frames but was kept off the scoreboard the remainder of the game. The Tommies recorded five of their 11 hits in the third inning, adding four runs and extending their lead 8-0.
Ben Vujovich, Max Moris, and Joe Vos all totaled two hits, as Moris led the Tommies with four RBIs in the final game of the weekend.
Oral Roberts tallied its first and only runs of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Devon Schewe and Kolby Gartner (3-1) allowed eight hits in the sweep over the Golden Eagles. Gartner tied season-high seven strikeouts in 6.0 innings of work.
