VanArragon leads the way for Women’s Golf at Lady Paladin

The junior finished in the top 25 after three strong rounds
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Tommie women's golf bounced back for its best round of the Lady Paladin Invitational on Sunday morning at the Furman University Golf Course. The Toms shot 297 on the final day and 907 across the three rounds for a tie in 15th place with Daytona State. Kathryn VanArragon was the highest placing Tommie, she finished in 21st place, one stroke over par for the competition.
Alabama won the team title 13 strokes clear of High Point. The University of Minnesota tied for third place with the hosting Furman Lady Paladins. St. Thomas was the only Summit League squad in the field.
Scoring Summary
First Round
-For the second competition in a row, Kathryn VanArragon led the way for the Tommies in the first round. The junior shot even par with four birdies and two doubles.
-Amelia Morton shot three over par, but played very consistent golf with 15 pars on the opening day.
-Emma Davies (+5) and Karen Lind Stefansdottir (+6) were the final scoring golfers for the Toms. Genevieve Birkeland went eight strokes over par.
Second Round
-VanArragon followed her strong opening day performance with a 73 (+1) on the second 18.
-Amelia Morton added her best round of the weekend with a 74 (+2). The sophomore tallied five birdies, three bogeys, and two doubles.
-Emma Davies occupied the third spot again with a 79 (+7) and the freshmen, Birkeland and Stefansdottir each tied with 82's (+10).
Third Round
-Kathryn finished off her clean sweep, leading the Toms on all three days with another round at even par. After a bogey on the first hole, she birdied a pair and bogeyed one more.
-Genevieve Birkeland shined on the final day with a 73 (+1) to climb eight places on the leaderboard.
-Amelia Morton and Karen Lind Stefansdottir each carded 76's (+4) and Emma Davies turned in a 79 (+7).

-Kathryn VanArragon's complete tournament score of 217 was her lowest since she carded a 213 at last season's Lady Paladin Invitational. That 213 is her career low, she finished in seventh place in 2024.
