Women’s Hockey closes out opening weekend with 6-1 win over Post

Boreen and Bartz lead Tommie offense with two goals a piece

SHELTON, CONN.-  St. Thomas caps off opening weekend with a 5-1 victory over the Post University Eagles. Chloe Boreen and Rylee Bartz each scored two goals for the Tommies.  

Quick Hits 

Shots on goal: Tommies 55, Post 15 

Two Tommies, Skoogman and Horton recorded the first points of their collegiate careers. 

SCORING SUMMARY: 

First Period: Sadie Lindsay got the Tommies on the board early off assists from Keara Parker and Josie Skoogman just five minutes into the game. Rylee Bartz then put the Tommies up 2-0 off passes from Nora Sauer and JuliAnna Gazdik that led Bartz into the offensive zone where she found the back of the net to cap off the one-on-one breakaway.  

Second Period: Chloe Boreen had herself a dominant second period as she found the back of the net twice scoring the Tommies third and fourth goals of the contest. Boreen's first goal was assisted by freshman Whitney Horton, the first of her collegiate career. The second was assisted by Ella Boerger and Jenessa Gazdik. Bartz then scored her second goal of the game assisted by Madison Brown and Cailin Mumm.  

Third Period: Post found the back of the net seven minutes into the period making the score 5-1. Freshman Josie Skoogman answered with 3 minutes left in the game, scoring the first goal of the collegiate career.  

TOP TOMMIES 

Rylee Bartz (Fargo, N.D. / Warroad) tied her career high of goals in a game with two.  

Chloe Boreen (Somerset, Wis. / Hill-Murray) also tied her career high of goals in a game with two.  

Sadie Lindsay (Minnetonka, Minn. / Breck) scored her first goal of the 2025-26 season.  

Josie Skoogman (St. Paul / Hill – Murray) scored the first goal of her collegiate career.  

Whitney Horton (Edina, Minn. / Edina) recorded her first collegiate assist and point.  

UP NEXT 

St. Thomas will head to St. Charles, MO. to take on Lindenwood in a non-conference matchup on Sept 26th and Sept. 27th. Puck drop is set for 6:00 p.m. CT on Friday, Sept. 26th and 2:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 27th.
