Men's Hockey caps 2-0 weekend at Showcase

St. Thomas Men's Hockey rebounded from an early 3-1 hole and won 5-4 over Bethel Saturday night in Blaine.

Five different players scored goals for the Tommies (2-0), and 13 different players had at least one point on the weekend,

St. Thomas is 2-0 in one-goal games so far after going 7-3 in such contests last winter.

Freshman goalie Cam Burggrabe made his collegiate debut and had 19 saves for St. Thomas.

Jake Ahlgren, Elijah Latimer, Tanner Barnes, Phil Fromberger and John Peterson scored goals for the Tommies. Ahlgren and Fromberger each had an assist. UST converted 2-of-5 power-play tries.

St. Thomas opens MIAC play next weekend against St. Mary's -- Friday night in Mendota Heights, Saturday night in Winona.

Eight different skaters chipped in points as St. Thomas Men's Hockey held off St. John's 3-2 in a non-conference match Friday night in the season-opening MIAC Showcase in Blaine.

Colton Berg, freshman Luke Radetic and Broydon Stufko scored for UST, which never trailed. The Johnnies scored a power-play goal with under 15:00 to play, but couldn't get the tying score down the stretch despite a 35-21 advantage in shots on goal.

Andrew Rohkohl was in goal for St. Thomas and stopped 33 of 35 shots.

St. Thomas plays Bethel Saturday at 7 p.m. to close out its Showcase appearance.
