Senior guard Cortez Tillman scored 26 points, including 11 of 12 made free throws, to lead No. 4-ranked St. Thomas in Friday night's 82-70 men's basketball win over No. 18-ranked Emory (Ga.) in the Hoopsville Classic.

St. Thomas (2-0) made 13 of 14 at the foul line in the final 3:30 to pull away. The Toms outscored Emory 33-9 from behind the arc.

Ryan Saarela had 17 points, 13 rebounds and five assists. Taylor Montero added 20 points, including six 3-pointers.

The Toms play Southern Vermont on Saturday.

Women's Basketball

Gabby Zehrer scored a career-high 24 points and Kaitlin Langer added 16 points and seven boards to lead UST's 76-62 win over Pacific Lutheran in non-conference women's basketball play Friday in Tacoma, Wash. Katie Stone chipped in 15 points.

UST (3-0) outscored the PLU starters 61-31.

The Toms play Saturday against Puget Sound.

Men's Hockey

Michael Dockry scored two goals and Joe Morris stopped 30 of 32 shots as St. Thomas scored a 5-2 home win over Bethel in MIAC men's hockey play Friday in Mendota Heights.

The Toms (4-1-2 overall, 3-0 MIAC) ran their unbeaten streak to four. Freshman Cullen Willox scored his first career goal.

The teams play again Saturday night in Blaine.

Women's Hockey

St. Thomas and Bethel played to a 2-2 overtime tie in Friday's MIAC women's hockey game in Blaine.

The team meet Saturday in Mendota Heights (2 p.m.) to close the series.
