Men’s Soccer set for two non-conference matchups

The Tommies welcome DePaul to South Field on Thursday, traveling to Milwaukee on Monday

St. Paul, Minn. -- The St. Thomas men's soccer team returns home for a match against DePaul. Match time is set for Thursday, Aug. 29 at 3:00 p.m. on South Field. On Monday, the Tommies take the road traveling to Milwaukee for a game against the Panthers.

Home Gameday Need to Know 
  • Admission to Tommie Men's Soccer is free all season long. 
  • Visitor Parking is available in the Anderson Parking Facility on South Campus.  
  • When navigating to the stadium from the Anderson Parking Facility please follow the posted signs directing you to the entrance. 
  • There will be no concessions available for the 2024 season. 
Head Coach Jon Lowery
Jon Lowery built a nationally-respected Division III soccer program with the Tommies last decade, and now he's busy in building mode in Division I.

The 2024 season marks Lowery's 13th season as a head coach for the Tommie Men's Soccer program. Lowery coached his 200th game with St. Thomas Men's Soccer in 2022 season is the longest tenured coach at his school among the Summit men's soccer coaches.

Lowery's 2023 squad earned a hard-fought victory over Chicago State in September, followed by an impressive shutout win against Milwaukee the following month. Ending the season on a high note, the Tommies secured a home win over Western Illinois to finish the 2023 season.

Meet the Newcomers
Tommie men's soccer welcomes 15 newcomers to their roster ahead of the 2024 season. Nine transfers and six freshmen make up the incoming class:

Last Time Out
The Tommies opened the 2024 season with a win on South Field. John Bence recorded the Tommies' first goal of the season, tallying his first collegiate goal in game-winning fashion.
 
On Sunday, St. Thomas traveled to Gonzaga, falling to the Bulldogs by a score of 6-1 at Luger Field.
 
Tommie Seniors
Faris Colic, Charlie Holton, Keegan James and Dennis Mensah, Jr. are entering their final season in purple. The group has combined for 14 goals and six assists, each playing over 1400 minutes on the field in their careers and leading the Tommies through the transition to Division I athletics.
 
Home Field Advantage
The Tommies went unbeaten in their last five home contests and held a 3-1-2 record on South Field during the 2023 season.
 
At home, the Tommies have allowed just seven goals against from 30 shots on goal between the 2023 and 2024 seasons, shutting down top-ranked opponents with rock solid defense.
 
Scouting DePaul
DePaul is led by Head Coach Mark Plotkin in his seventh season with the Blue Demons.

The Blue Demons (1-1) opened their season with a 4-3 win at UIC, falling to Northwestern on Sunday afternoon. Graduate Student Logan Finnegan has scored a goal in each of the two contests for DePaul to start the 2024 campaign.
 
Scouting Milwaukee
Milwaukee men's soccer is led by Kris Kelderman in his 12th season with the Panthers. The Panthers (1-0-1) are coming off a 3-2 win over Bradley on Sunday afternoon.  
 
Alejandro Martinez paces the Panthers, scoring two goals and posting an assist to start the season.
