December 08, 2006

Sophomore goalie Jake Maida stopped all 21 shots in just his second career start and senior Nick Harris scored twice as the host Tommies (4-5) scored a 4-0 victory over UW-Eau Claire (5-6-1) in non-conference men's hockey play Friday night in Mendota Heights.

The Tommies scored four power-play goals in ending a three-game losing streak. Nick Pernula had three assists and Nate Ryan had a goal and two assists.

Ryan Mensing had 24 saves for the Blugolds, who went 0-for-6 on the power play.

It was the first shutout of the season for the Toms, who also beat the Blugolds 2-1 in their season opener five weeks ago.

St. Thomas is off for three weeks until the Dec. 29-30 tournament hosted by SUNY-Oswego.
