Alex Gaffney named CCHA Forward of the Week

The grad transfer’s five-point weekend propelled him to the top of the CCHA
ST. PAUL, Minn. – Alex Gaffney has taken up the mantle left to him on the top line by Liam Malmquist as the CCHA's top point-getter, through three weeks that is. After a five-point performance in a weekend series at Air Force, Gaffney was named CCHA Forward of the Week for the first time in his career.
The West Orange, N.J. native leads the conference in goals (4), power play goals (3), and points (9) through five games while playing on the Tommies' top scoring line. He earned five of those points and three of those goals against the Falcons this weekend with a four-point game on Friday and a power play goal on Saturday. He has scored at least one point in all five games to begin his Tommie career.
The best point-producing season of his collegiate career came in 2022-23 with the Harvard Crimson, he scored seven goals and finished with 16 points.
Gaffney is the first Tommie to be named CCHA Forward of the Week since the Malmquist on March 10, 2025. The Toms received five FOTW's last season, and Gaffney's honor is the 12th in program history.
